Alien Studio's commitment to digital inclusion, WCAG 2.1 Level AAA compliance, high-contrast typography, and accessible web experiences for all visitors.

1. Our Commitment to Inclusion

At Alien Studio, we believe that fine art and visual storytelling should be accessible to everyone, including individuals who use assistive technologies such as screen readers, voice controls, magnification, and keyboard navigation. Our engineering standards adhere strictly to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AAA criteria.

2. Core Accessibility Measures Implemented

  • High-Contrast Typography (WCAG AAA 7:1): Every text element in both light and dark modes exceeds the strict 7:1 contrast ratio against its background ground. Interactive borders and focus rings maintain a minimum 4.5:1 ratio.
  • Full Keyboard Operability: All interactive affordances—including photo lightboxes, search dialogs (⌘K), theme switchers, and navigation menus—are 100% operable via keyboard without trapping focus.
  • Semantic Structure & Screen Reader Optimization: Complete HTML5 landmark structure (<header>, <nav>, <main>, <footer>, <figure>, <figcaption>) with ARIA dialog semantics (role="dialog", aria-modal="true", aria-label).
  • Descriptive Alternative Text: Every photograph across our 7 collections includes detailed, descriptive alt text and visible captions communicating visual subjects, lighting, and composition.
  • Reflow & Responsive Magnification: The layout seamlessly accommodates up to 400% browser zoom without text clipping, layout breakage, or two-dimensional scrolling.
  • Reduced Motion Support: CSS transitions respect the user's operating system preferences via the prefers-reduced-motion media query.

Alien Studio is actively tested across modern screen reading software and browser environments:

  • macOS & iOS: VoiceOver with Safari and Chrome.
  • Windows: NVDA and JAWS with Edge, Chrome, and Firefox.
